Luxury Hotels in York England

June 26th, 2010

We find several questions regarding both luxury and common hotels in the York area and often take requests to do reviews and give advice on where to stay. Here are some recent user submitted questions that you might be wondering as well as you are planning your trip to York, England.

“I would like a very nice hotel in or around York, UK to bring my loved one to for a few days, ideally a 4 star plus. What do you advise?”

The Guy Fawkes Hotel is a small, welcoming hotel in a beautiful setting in York.

The actual locale is great, right next to York Minster as well as the Shambles. With York being a reasonably compact City you can walk to pretty much anywhere inside 20 minutes. The staff are very pleasant and valuable and the suites are nice and fresh with large cozy four poster mattresses. Breakfast is prepared fresh with a great choice and it’s not a challenge if you would like to order something that is not on the list.
Small aggrevations, you have to park close to 10 minutes out from the hotel and go back to the vehicle each and every day to replace your parking pass, except if you want to let everyone know just how long your car will be parked out there! The tavern is really comfy in the afternoon when eating, the famous area had the flooring planks protected by a contemporary vinyl floor coverings and the wifi is known by a few to not function within the bedroom.

Summary :

Overall for a luxury hotel in the York area, we endorse this particular hotel but recommend that you investigate where you want to eat in the evenings if you are remaining more than one night.

Recommend staying here? : Yes

York, England – Just Another English Town? Hotels, History and More

December 10th, 2009

York is a quaint town of approximately 190,000 people and is situated between London and Edinburgh, at the joining of the rivers Fosse and Ouse. York has old roots, it was founded by the Romans in 71 AD and served throughout the middle ages as a center of commerce and religion. Given its history, many call York the “last English city” and still attracts a very large tourist population each year.

The center of York is very historic and beautiful and is actually surrounded by a large wall dating back to medieval times. Inside the center is where we find many interesting places to visit, eat or rest. Luxury hotels in York are located inside the city center in great locations close to common points of interest for tourists such as the York Minster which is the largest Gothic cathedral in Europe.

A very popular tourist spot is The Shambles, a very old, narrow street filled with pubs, tea rooms and tiny shops. Ancient butchers used to line the streets with their meats, hanging from windows and overhangs, but much of that has gone away. Many of the houses we find here date back to the fifteenth century and thus have begun deteriorating and shifting on their foundation. Some of the roof tops along this street lean inwards towards one another so much, that many of them seem as if they are going to touch!

For the museum enthusiasts out there, York will not disappoint. The Yorkshire Museum, The Castle Museum, Museum Gardens and The York Dungeon are all world-class museums easily accessible to you during your stay. Another interesting museum that you can visit is the National Railway Museum, great for any fans of the history or operations of railways and trains. This museum is one of the biggest collections of trains and historic transportation material in the world.

You’ve got many things to see, people to meet, and places to sleep in York! After you choose the best luxury hotel in York to stay in, you won’t be let down with the rest of your trip – nor will you have a bad night’s sleep! Just outside your room you’ll find the best pubs, restaurants and historical attractions of England, and you’ll need your rest to fit it all in. Good luck with your voyage and we hope you enjoy York as much as we do!

Worldwide Guide to Luxury Hotels

December 3rd, 2009

Luxury Hotels are inspired to provide prestigious luxury and memorable experiences. Luxury hotels are high in demand all over the world, especially in the Middle East, where business and leisure travel has climbed 18 percent since 2005, and sparkling new hotels are drawing visitors from around the world. These hotels are looking to survive the economic situation, and there’s a lot of discounting going on in order to ensure that desire.

Travelers usually don’t understand the importance of finding the best deal for their budgets. Many lose valuable time trying to find a good hotel when they arrive to their destination, when the ideal would be to make this research before departing. Travel sites can do very well, but travel is an extremely competitive category that has attracted major corporate players in addition to mom-and-pop sites. Travel to Singapore, for example, as a business or a leisure traveler, and you will discover an amazing microstate, with a dazzling punch on the world economic stage.

Luxury Hotels Today

November 28th, 2009

Luxury hotels are heavily dependent on high-end business travel, corporate meetings and international visitors all of which have fallen. Luxury hotels are not dead, they are being and will continue to be redefined by both price point and extent of offerings. Luxury hotels are far from dead, there that impeding gloom in the forseeable furture however the gloom will be shortlived. Luxury hotels are all in great locations around the world and provide the ultimate hotel experience. Luxury hotels are enjoying unprecedented occupancy but can’t attract or retain workers. Luxury hotels are looking to survive the economic situation, and there’s a lot of discounting going on.

Spa

Higher-end hotels are also now including in the room price services they used to charge extra for, like valet parking, Internet service and spa use. Many companies such as Starwood and Rosewood are trying to lure customers by giving free nights and dining and spa credits without significantly lowering room rates, which could tarnish their exclusive appeal. Spas, casinos and kids’ clubs are also available at some luxury hotels. Newspapers delivered to guest rooms are now ordered only according to occupancy — not according to the number of rooms in the hotel. As being a prime centre; all luxurious facilities were in demand and hence luxury hotels in London upgraded themselves with the latest luxury items like ergonomically designed spa, yoga and tools of personality development.

London

A number of hotels have entered the public consciousness through popular culture, such as the Ritz Hotel in London, United Kingdom, through its association with Irving Berlin’s song, ‘Puttin’ on the Ritz’. There are various myths attached with the birth of London and its name. But, notable significant changes can be seen in London from eighteenth century onwards. So it can be said that London became the witness of some exclusive advancements on grass root level in the contemporary time period. While staying in these hotels, visitors can get the feel of being associated with the rich and prosperous culture of the great London which is a very unique experience. Luxury hotels in London provide you the true family environment and friendly relaxing atmosphere with all modern comforts and fragrance of royal British culture.

Because many luxury hotels are built in locations that were repurposed to hotel use quite some time ago, pools are not always easy to find. A couple of popular luxury hotels are the Hilton and world famous Balmoral Hotel both of these have city centre locations and offer high standards of accommodation. Some of these luxury hotels are renowned as the most famous or prestigious in their respective cities, while others are not as well known but remain the accommodation of choice for discerning visitors. The prices in luxury hotels are already high and should include good housekeeping. Comfortable and luxury hotels are selected both for high-end vacation and business travel.
